The new video filters feature for Microsoft Teams meetings is now available in Teams Public Preview mode. Video filters, as the name says, allow adding animated and stable frames, and color filters to your video. Since video filters hang on the front or as a frame, they can be used side-by-side with virtual backgrounds. The feature is currently available on for Teams Desktop App.
On the first launch, video filters need to be installed, because it’s a meeting app in Teams. Clicking Video effects displays Backgrounds and a new Filters selector.

When a filter from the Filters menu is clicked for the first time, the app needs to be added and consented to access the features. The app is called Custom Filters. After the first-time installation, the app is automatically available for the next meetings.

After the app is installed, a filter can be picked and previewed on the meeting join screen. Clicking the More filters link opens the meeting pane with more filter options.

Currently, there are 21 frames and 9 styles to choose from. Here are some examples:

According to the Microsoft 365 roadmap, the video effects feature should be generally available in February 2023.
